Dear friends and loyal participants of the Lady Liberty Ride,

For several reasons, the 2008 Lady Liberty Ride has been cancelled or as we like to say, postponed to 2009. Please accept our apologies and regrets. We, too, are disappointed but at the very same time we are eager to tell you about our plans for a bigger, better, new and improved Lady Liberty Ride 2009!

We have had continued growth these past five years and in 2007 we had more than 750 bikes. The 2007 Ride’s enormous turn out coupled with the dramatic commercial changes and traffic patterns in the Meat Market’s neighborhood in Manhattan have made producing our event in The Market impossible.

Taking over the area as we have in the past is not an option. We are no longer able to prohibit car parking, stage the registration, arrange the bike line-up and take off from 10th Avenue and close a 4 block radius for the entire day. Running a smooth and seamless event there is not possible under these conditions.

Instead, we are working with the administration up at Bear Mountain State Park to have a full day Lady Liberty Ride Festival in early September 2009! Bear Mountain has supported us for five successful rides and they support LOVE, our charity beneficiary, as the outstanding youth organization it is.

We will keep you posted with the details for next year’s Ride as they are formed. In 2009, instead of meeting at the Meat Market, The Ride will begin from different staging areas in various parts of the tri-state area and meet at Bear Mountain. We are speaking with dealerships in New Jersey, Connecticut, New York and Long Island who wish to participate. Several riding clubs will stage their own starting breakfasts. There will be plenty of vendors, test rides, detailing, pin-striping, entertainment and music, food and raffle prizes. We are working on a bike raffle of course as well.

Please contact us if you are interested in getting involved with the Lady Liberty Ride 2009 or if you have suggestions for staging areas, meeting places, vendors and activities you would like to see and contact persons for your riding clubs and volunteers. We'd love to hear from you!

Please continue to enter the site and peruse the photos and road report from past and last years ride sat your leisure.

Have a wonderful, safe and adventurous summer 2008.

Cheers!
